Therapy Session

Mental Health

Everyone experiences life difficulties or situations that cause a range of emotions.  Therapy is another tool available to help us cope with all that life brings about.

Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese healing technique where the practitioner lays hand on different areas of the body or from a distance.  Reiki means “life force energy” and it aids in increasing relaxation, healing, and stress reduction.  The client is resting on a massage table or in a chair while the practitioner moves to different parts of the body to offer energy healing.

Reiki is a modality that compliments yoga well.  As the client is in a yoga pose, the practitioner will consider the benefits of the pose and use a corresponding reiki hand position to support the client.  The client will be guided in and out of the poses as they move along the session.

Jackie is a level 2 Reiki practitioner in the Usui lineage.

Yin and Restorative Yoga

Yin and restorative yoga assists the body by softening the muscles and fascia which supports our joints and tendons.  It is slow, quiet, and encourages looking inward during the practice.

Yin and restorative yoga combines traditional yoga poses as well as Chinese principles of energy manifestations and systems.  It is a style that anyone can participate in as props (the floor, blankets, pillows, etc.) are used to support the body to hold poses from 3-7 minutes depending on the pose and body part.  It is done mostly seated or a flat surface like the floor.  The yoga teacher verbally guides the students in and out of different poses gently.  Yin and restorative yoga assists the body by softening the muscles and fascia which supports our joints and tendons.  The energy of the practice is slow, quiet, and encourages looking inward during the practice.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is all about being aware and paying attention to what's happening in the present moment, without judging it as good or bad. It's like focusing on what you're doing or feeling right now, rather than worrying about the past or future.  Learn valuable techniques for managing stress, enhancing resilience, and fostering a deeper connection with yourself and the world around you. Cultivate a mindset of compassion, acceptance, and self-compassion as you embrace each moment with intention and mindfulness.

Jackie is a level 2 mindfulness coach through Mindfulness Certification Training.
